The beginning of a new year and we will start off studying prepositions and prepositional phrases.

The standard is ELA7C1

ONLY  three days of homework and this will be a good time to catch up on the reading across the curriculum.

Standards:  ELA7W1-4 Creative writing

The week before Christmas is full of excitement for the students.  The classwork for the week are  final examination, creation of book (project due Friday 3:30 December 17), christmas poetry and Time magazine for kids.

The homework assignments are  book notes and to study for the final.   Reading across the curriculum should always be included for homework!

Language Arts Week in Preview

GPS Standard: ELA7C1 - Demonstrates an understanding of grammar in both written and spoken format

Classwork: For this week, students are working on the following assignments:
  • Show and Tell (expository items) Presentations (rubrics were provided)
  • Poems using a variety of strategies
  • Creating books in flexible groups (rubrics provided)
  • Language Arts Benchmark Test
  • Reading Across the Curriculum
Homework: Poetry (Christmas poems), Book notes

Homework 9/22/10- 9/23/10 & Classwork

Literacy- 500 pages must be read by September  30, 2010
Parents, please make sure student are reading  and sign reading log
9/22- Describe a prehistoric  animal ( 1 paragraph)

CLASSWORK: Work on writing  on creation of a book. We are working cooperatively in groups.
Writing prompt: October 1, 2010 ( School Wide)

Homework: 9/23/10: Explain  what  a narrator  is?  What are some jobs for a narrator. See 9/22 for Literacy.
